My Search for Hello Kitty in Bangkok City Started from Chinatown and Ended at Siam Square One.
Now Bangkok also has Hello Kitty store for Hello Kitty lovers, so Singaporeans can visit their shopping paradise city to get a dose of cuteness and kawaii-ness, without flying to Taiwan or Japan. Besides the huge Hello Kitty store in Siam Square One, we also found out by chance that there is another good place for Sanrio products, which is Chinatown in Bangkok.
Hello Kitty in Sampeng Lane, Chinatown area of Bangkok
It just so happened that on the first day after we arrived at Bangkok, we decided to take the boat route to Chinatown as a different experience to sightsee. From our Airbnb, we took the BTS Sukhumvit Line from Phra Khanong station to Siam station, and changed to Silom Line to alight at Saphan Taksin BTS. It was a very short walk to the Saphan Taksin pier.
To get to Chinatown area, we had to take the orange boat to Ratchawong Pier and the fare was pretty cheap at 15 Thai baht for one-way trip, no matter which pier you alight. It was about 40 minutes boat ride – a leisurely way to get around Bangkok.
We spent some time wandering along the many alleys of the area and finally navigated to the Sampeng Market and its surroundings. There are many many shops and stalls selling all kinds of accessories, stationery and even Hello Kitty products!
Search for Hello Kitty Part 2: Hello Kitty House at Siam Square One [CLOSED]
After Chinatown, we went to the Hello Kitty House at Siam Square One to continue my search for Hello Kitty! This Hello Kitty House is a 2-storey department with Hello Kitty Cafe, Hello Kitty Spa and Hello Kitty Shop.
After shopping whole day, we had dinner at Siam Center, next door.
